The Krabi Contemporary Art Museum in Krabi, Thailand blends diverse traditional and contemporary art created by local and visiting artists. The Art Museum clearly shows the shift of traditional Thai art to the more westernized forms. Exhibits consist of paintings, photography and three-dimensional installation art.

The museum offers revolving art exhibitions throughout the year. Past traveling exhibits include “The Spirt of ASEAN”, which highlighted 60 works of art from Thailand and Malaysia; and the “Andaman Sea Exhibit”, inspired works of art by professional artists from the north and southeastern parts of Thailand expressing the beauty of its landscape and its culture.

The Koh Lanta Community Museum opened in December 2007, after two years of planning and development. Located in Lanta Old Town at the southern tip of Koh Lanta, the museum is housed in a lovely wooden district hall with a variety of exhibits representing the island’s four main communities – the Sea Gypsies, Muslims, Buddhists, and Thai-Chinese. There you’ll find the ceremonial boat used by the Sea Gypsies in their semi-annual “Setting Adrift of the Chao Ley (Sea Gypsies) Boats”, antique Chinese furniture, a charcoal-producing kiln, and tools and other paraphernalia used by the fishermen on the island.

The Wat Khlong Thom Museum is on the grounds of the Buddhist temple of the same name. There you can view the artifacts of years of excavations — beads made of glass and stone, ceramic animals, stone ornaments, stone tools, Roman coins, intact pottery, and ceramic shards. Many of the museum’s pieces date back to more than 5,000 years ago.
