Asia’s top 50 restaurants to be announced in Singapore in March 2015

Asia’s top 50 restaurants will be announced March 9, 2015 at Capella, Singapore. Asia’s most renowned restauranteurs and chefs will be on hand for the event, sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. This represents the third year of the awards hosted in Singapore. Asia’s inclusion in the 13-year-old competition started in 2013.

Awards Part of Global Competition

The awards for “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” are part of a larger program entitled “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants”. The results of the competition are widely acknowledged to represent the 50 best places to eat in the entire world.

Initially, winners were voted upon by the 900+ members of The Diners Club® World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy. This year, however, the voting process is changing. Three-hundred regional leaders in Asia’s restaurant industry, chosen for their expertise, will make the decision.

According to Group Editor William Drew, the change was made to highlight the diverse restaurant scene across Asia and to better reflect the experts’ tastes and opinions who are based in Asia. He and others involved believe that the voting changes will provide the most updated overview of the ever-changing culinary scene on the continent.

The six voting regions of the Academy consist of:

  • India and the Subcontinent
  • Southeast Asia South
  • Southeast Asia North
  • Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau
  • Mainland China and Korea
  • Japan
